- Just do it; this may sound strange, but doubting won’t help you. Just try it.
- Keep breathing calmly. That is easier said than done because your breathing quickens due to the cold water. What can help is, after exhaling, not immediately inhaling again; try to hold your breath. When you breathe calmly, cold showers become much easier right away.
- Turn the knob all at once. You might be tempted to slowly turn the knob towards cold. However, the shock effect of the cold water on your body is the goal of the cold shower. Gradually going from warm to cold has less effect.
