Pain in your feet after walking in your socks for a long time?

Pijn aan je voeten na lang lopen op je sokken?

It is getting colder and colder and that is why we are staying indoors more and more. There is nothing as nice as walking around the house with socks on so that your toes stay nice and warm. After being at home all day and walking back and forth to the fridge, your feet can start to hurt. But what can you do about pain in your feet?

Why do your feet hurt?

If you walk around in your socks for a long time and often, the fat pads of your feet can become damaged and thinner. If this happens, your feet can start to tingle, sting or feel numb. If you have this, you often feel that the pain is worse on the side of your feet than in the middle. This thinning of the fat pads on your heel and in the middle of your foot can feel like you are walking on pebbles. If you start to feel this, it is advisable to contact your GP . In addition to the GP, you can also try a number of things yourself to reduce the pain.

How can you fix this?

If, as described above, you feel that your feet are starting to hurt, for example if you have been putting a lot of strain on them after having been busy at home all day in your socks or bare feet, then it is wise to start looking at slippers or clogs. These help to reduce the strain on your feet and ensure that the pain quickly subsides. (Slippers and clogs also ensure that your (SOLIT) socks do not tear as quickly, read our blog on how to prevent holes in your socks ). Apart from slippers/clogs, it is also important that you limit the time that you walk around barefoot or in socks to 2 hours per day!
